• kr-utils is a free reference toolkit for foreigners dealing with Korean documents, taxes, visas, and daily life.
• Every calculation result is an estimate, not legal, tax, immigration, or medical advice.
• Before filing or making a decision, verify through official channels (NTS Hometax, HiKorea, your employer, a licensed tax accountant, your physician, etc.).
• The operator is not liable for any direct or indirect damages arising from use of the Service.

1. Purpose and scope

These Terms govern your use of kr-utils (the "Service"), a free collection of utility tools, calculators, and guides for foreigners dealing with Korean documents, transit, taxes, visas, and daily life. They cover the rights and obligations between the operator and you (the "User"), liability limits, and dispute-resolution procedures. They apply to every page under krutils.com/main/. The Korean-language tool area (krutils.com/utilkit/) has its own Korean Terms.

2. Definitions

• "Service" — all tools, guides, and related content offered by kr-utils.
• "User" — anyone who accesses or uses any tool or content on the Service.
• "Operator" — the individual who plans, runs, and maintains the Service.
• "Calculation result" — any numeric, categorical, or date output produced by a tool from User-supplied input.
• "External site" — any government, financial, or third-party website linked from the Service.

3. Nature of the Service and acceptance

• kr-utils provides informational tools and reference calculators covering Korean taxes, visa & ARC management, telecom, transit, real estate, and customs.
• No account is required; the Service is free of charge.
• User input is stored only in your browser's localStorage, never transmitted to a server. See the Privacy Policy for details.
• By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service immediately.

4. Limitation of liability — domain-specific disclaimers

All Calculation results are reference estimates. The following domain-specific disclaimers apply.

• Taxes (year-end settlement, foreigner income tax, VAT, customs duty, capital gains, etc.) — actual liability depends on tax law, enforcement decrees, official NTS interpretations, and individual circumstances (treaty benefits, dependents, residency length, side income). Our tools implement a standard scenario and cannot reflect every edge case. Verify via NTS Hometax (English) or a licensed tax accountant (세무사) before filing.
• Immigration / visa / ARC (digital nomad visa, ARC renewal, visa expiration tracker, etc.) — eligibility, document requirements, and processing depend on Korea Immigration Service (KIS) discretion, visa category, and current policy. Rules change frequently and exceptions abound. Confirm with HiKorea (☎ 1345) or a licensed visa attorney before submitting any application.
• Real estate (foreigner property eligibility, jeonse / wolse conversion, capital-gains exposure) — Korean property rules involve foreign-owner disclosure obligations, treaty considerations, joint-ownership rules, and tax interactions. Critical decisions need a licensed Korean real estate attorney or accountant.
• Health (BMI calculator, Korean age, pregnancy week) — based on KOSSO standard cutoffs and general medical guidance only. Not medical advice. Always consult a physician or pharmacist for diagnosis, treatment, or medication decisions.
• Validators (ARN, BRN, corporate registration number, address-to-English, hanja name, etc.) — our checks are format and checksum only. Final issuance, registration, and acceptance lie with the relevant Korean government office or financial institution.

We make reasonable effort to track annual changes in Korean tax, labor, immigration, and financial rules but do not guarantee that the Service reflects the latest rules at any given moment. The operator is not liable for any direct or indirect damages (overpaid tax, missed refunds, visa rejections, missed deadlines, financial decisions, etc.) arising from reliance on the Service.

5. External links

The Service links to external sites operated by Korean government bodies (NTS, MOEL, KIS, juso.go.kr, t-money, Hometax, HiKorea, etc.) and private organizations for verification convenience. Please note:

• The operator does not control and is not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or security of those external sites;
• External site content, policies, and features are governed by their respective owners and may change without notice;
• Any damage from external sites (phishing, malware, account compromise) is not the operator's responsibility;
• Verify the URL, SSL certificate, and official Korean government domain (.go.kr for government) before logging in or submitting documents.

6. Intellectual property

• The design, copy, source code, and domain of the Service are the Operator's intellectual property.
• Emoji glyphs (🇰🇷·🛂·📊 etc.) are part of the Unicode standard and rendered by your operating system / browser fonts.
• Citations from official Korean sources (NTS, MOEL, statutes) are made under fair-use / quotation rules of the Korean Copyright Act §28.
• You may freely use the Service's Calculation results for personal purposes. Commercial duplication, redistribution, translation, AI-training scraping, or copy-pasting of the codebase or written content is prohibited without prior written permission.
• Violations may trigger civil and criminal liability under the Korean Copyright Act and the Unfair Competition Prevention Act.

7. Acceptable use and prohibited conduct

The Operator may, without prior notice, restrict access for Users who:

• Run automated scrapers, crawlers, or excessive requests (e.g., more than 100/minute) that affect availability for others;
• Reproduce the Service's design, copy, or codebase verbatim on competing sites;
• Manipulate or distort Calculation results and redistribute them as misleading information;
• Probe, attack, or exploit security vulnerabilities maliciously;
• Engage in invalid click activity or otherwise violate advertising policies;
• Otherwise violate the Network Act, PIPA, Korean Copyright Act, or other applicable law.

Appeals against access restrictions can be sent to support@krutils.com; we will review within a reasonable time and respond.

8. Modifications and termination

• The Operator may add, modify, or remove individual tools and may suspend or terminate the Service at any time, with or without notice.
• The Service is free and informational; no continuous availability is guaranteed. Temporary outages may occur for hosting maintenance (Cloudflare), security patches, code deployments, or upstream data-source format changes.
• Material tool changes (calculation formula revisions, new input fields, result format changes) are announced where reasonably possible. Each tool page shows a "Last updated" date.

9. Advertising

kr-utils displays advertising (e.g., Google AdSense, currently under review) and uses anonymous analytics (Google Analytics 4) to fund and improve operations.

• Ads are clearly identifiable and labeled "Sponsored" or similar.
• Ad content is provided by Google and the advertisers themselves; the Operator is not responsible for the products, services, or content offered by advertisers.
• Any transaction or dispute arising from clicking an ad or buying from an advertiser is between you and that advertiser; the Operator is not a mediator.
• The full list of active third-party advertising and analytics services is documented in the Privacy Policy.

10. Disclaimer of warranties (AS-IS)

The Service is provided "AS-IS" and "AS-AVAILABLE". The Operator disclaims, to the maximum extent permitted by law, all express and implied warranties, including:

• Fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, accuracy, reliability, and uninterrupted availability;
• That Calculation results will be accepted as-is by any Korean government agency, bank, employer, or third party;
• That external data (statutes, tax rates, exchange rates, visa rules) is always up to date;
• Against data loss, device malfunction, or malware infection allegedly caused by use of the Service.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

• These Terms and your use of the Service are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea.
• Disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent court at the Operator's address, or such other court as designated by the Korean Civil Procedure Act.
• If you qualify as a "consumer" under the Korean Framework Act on Consumers, you may also use the dispute mediation procedure of the Korea Consumer Agency (Article 55 of that Act).

12. Changes to these Terms

These Terms may change as laws, the Service, or external regulations evolve. We will:

• Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page;
• For material changes (changes to User rights/obligations, scope of liability, etc.), give 7-day advance notice on the home page or via a banner at the top of this page;
• Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Severability and survival

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable by a court or by operation of law, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect. The provisions on Limitation of Liability, Intellectual Property, Disclaimer of Warranties, and Governing Law survive termination of your use of the Service.
